In 1981, the Stranglers released a very peculiar concept album called The Gospel According to the Meninblack,
a paranoid, experimental post-punk record whose lyrics are replete with
references to alien visitation, esoteric conspiracy, and biblical
ancient astronauts. This combination didn't exactly set the charts on
fire in '81. I haven't made my mind up on the album as a whole yet, but
this track is excellent:
